SELIGMAN
CHILD & ADOLESCENT COUNSELLOR

ABOUT ME
MSc, CCLS (She, her)
Nicky is a Certified Child Life Specialist with her Master's degree from McMaster University in Child Life and Pediatric Psychosocial Care. Nicky's expertise lies in child development and how significant life events influence children, parents and families. Nicky's training focuses on how to bolster children's coping in the face of life's adversities and how to empower and support parents to support their children as they navigate the challenges of life.

Nicky is experienced in supporting children and teens with anxiety, illness, medical procedures, grief, loss and family changes. Nicky has worked in the grief and bereavement space for over 5 years, including at Andrea Warnick Consulting, Camp Erin, Gilda's Club, and Heart House Hospice. Nicky believes in finding ways to help children understand, express, and process their loss and grief. Nicky has expertise in not only supporting grieving children, but also works to help parents learn how to walk alongside their children in their grief process, so their children do not have to grieve alone.

Nicky has further experience at The Hospital for Sick Children, supporting children with serious illness and medical anxiety. Nicky emphasizes the importance of including children in the conversation to help them feel in control of situations that often feel out of their control.
Nicky draws on creative mediums, such as play, music, and art to help children and teens explore and process the stressors in their lives. Nicky believes in a family-centred and strengths-based approach to counselling and works collaboratively to meet your child's unique needs.
