Nicky is a Certified Child Life Specialist with her Master's degree from McMaster University in Child Life and Pediatric Psychosocial Care. She has worked with a variety of organizations supporting children and youth facing adversity across Ontario, including Dr. Jay Children’s Grief Centre and Camp Oochigeas. She was part of the inaugural team at The Nightingale Centre for Grieving Children, Youth, and Families in Guelph, Ontario, and helped create and facilitate the children's bereavement group. Most recently, Nicky has worked providing in-home and virtual support to grieving children, teens, and families when someone in their life is dying or has died as a HUUG (Help Us Understand Grief) counsellor at Heart House Hospice. Nicky is passionate about supporting children, teens, and families experiencing significant life changes and losses, through serious illness and death. She draws on creative mediums, such as play, music, and art to help children and teens explore and process the changes in their lives. Nicky believes in a family-centred and strengths-based approach to counselling and works collaboratively to meet your child's unique needs.
Nicky is currently working in Toronto at Andrea Warnick Consulting.
